I really don’t “get” this Canceling subset of American Indians –
Sidenote: no, I’m not going to use “Native Americans” for I am a native born American as well: second generation born on my Mom’s side, third generation on my Dad’s side (and for the curious, Swedish and Irish respectively but that’s my ancestry and not my identity). E Pluribus Unum (or what seems to be the remains of it). And I’m not politically correct so I don’t care; I’m not changing my speech patterns so as to not offend you (remember, offense is be bi-directional).
flags, mascots, sayings, and other symbology. Washington Redskins (logo drawn by an American Indian), Kansas City Chiefs, Belmont (NH) Red Raider – there’s plenty more all over. And it is generally White Americans who have loaded themselves up with guilt that are doing it. Seeking not to offend somebody, I don’t think these busybodies have gone the next step thinking wise.
I don’t know about other areas of the country but I don’t see or hear much animosity about American Indians here in NH. They are proud of their heritage – that’s fine (I’m proud of my Viking heritage but I don’t dwell on it either).
Sidenote: then why isn’t it considered to in having Viking symbology as mascots as well (e.g., Minnesota Vikings football) as well? You see where I’m going with this…..right?
I look at all of the mascot / sports logos using American Indian motifs as representing fierce competitors – isn’t that what is wanted on the field of sports? That urge to win? And what is the result when every image is removed?
Erased-hood. Gone from the public eye except for some dusty museums and the occasional piece in the paper about a Pow-wow annual meeting. Who or what would drive any memory of them at all? Given that Progressives are erasing American history from our schools’ history classes, what would be left? After all, if it weren’t for the Wampanoag Indian tribe, the Pilgrims most likely would have all died.
So without sports, what’s left? While giving a much needed boost to their economies, will it just be casinos that will be associated with them?
We really can’t change history (outside of the Stalinization of it as the Progressives and Political Correct useful idiots are doing to everything) – what really will remain? “Out of sight, out of mind” may be a platitude but one with a lot of grains of truth to it.
Back to the whole reason for this post – look at the Massachuesetts flag, above from a Telegraph post (paywalled). Go ahead, edumacate me – what’s racist about it? I see a an American Indian standing tall, proud and put into the center of that flag. Not off to one side, not a diminished size, just standing there. Immediate what comes to mind, knowing my history and the role they played in Massachusetts history and saving the Pilgrims 400 years ago (Plimouth Plantation & Patuxet museum, dontcha know), they need to be in the Public Square. While Plimouth Plantation is adding an American Indian component (and dropping the Plantation bit), everywhere else, including this flag, will disappear if the busybodies have their way:

You can’t move forward when you still have these stereotypes,” she explained.
Oh, you will be changing the culture, no doubt. By deletion and not by addition / substitution. And her stereotype is from HER worldview – not mine. It’s not obvious what she’d replace it with – and how to substitute that back into today’s culture. I don’t think she’d have an answer other than the typical Progressive word salad.
It’s the same thing all over – the White Guilt white-washing of history. He who controls the past controls the future.
Now, both President Obama and President wannabe Biden are saying that America needs to be transformed. ALL of the Progressives say that, either quietly or loudly. We’re not getting a choice as they now are in firm control of our Culture.
And the Republican “Leadership” wussies remain silent, not knowing that the tsunami is about to drown them all. Talk about getting erased in the future….just by another means.
