Quick Thought – Governors: you can’t govern if people are ignoring you

Govt job Rights My job health

I was out doing errands on Saturday/Sunday (pharmacy runs). Before this weekend, the roads in the Laconia area had been quiet. Stop signs were almost a formality, nary a car in front, in back, or passing on the other side.  Then BOOM! Not the normal load pre-epidemic but a LOT more cars on the road than in the previous two weeks. Shopping parking lots were much fuller as well.

In reading the different online sites, it’s clear that Americans have had enough. They aren’t staying home and they aren’t caring about being yelled at any more. SOME governors are sufficiently astute to be seeing and listening to those that elected them to be their representatives…

Sidenote: not leaders, representatives; we all need to start rejiggering our thought patterns as to who they really are because some have let their elected office titles go to their heads and egos.

…and are letting the shackles drop. Then there are those that aren’t and are PROVING they are meglomaniacs and are doubling down like Michigan Governor “Half: Whitmer who has extended her crackdown on her serfs. Maine’s Governor and the example of the brewery owner losing his operating licenses and even the Salem Selectman deciding to fine his fellow townies for not making him feel safe.

So people are just starting to ignore those types. There have been a lot of “Reopen” style protests (e.g., “..to petition the government for a redress of grievances”) but a lot of people are basically  flipping the bird at those Stay Home / No Shopping orders. Americans will help out when they see the need but when needless orders and demands go beyond what they see is necessary, they stop. Why is going to church for congregate worship any worse than going to Walmart for “essentials” packed with shoppers?  Is faith in God any less than buy a gallon of milk? That’s what people are thinking – and going “this is nuts”.

Respectful laws will be followed; those laws that are not respectful of the governed will likewise not be respected either.

And people are being tired of being ruled by “public health officials” who concentrate on one and ONLY one aspect of Life and not the rest of one’s sphere of life – they are tuning out and dropping out.  Even as Governors continue to shout at them. Even as “public health officials” keep nagging. And ESPECIALLY the Jr High Hall Monitors and Snitches keep hectoring people to OBEY or DIE!  So, they’re going to the beaches and the parks regardless if allowed or not, regardless of masking regs, and regardless of Social Distancing.

They’ve seen the virus  numbers, they’re not in the “vulnerable communities”…

Sidenote: anyone else getting tired of how “Communities” has become politically weaponized into “OBEY or DIE! (yes, I’m being redundant)?

…and they are now ignoring the “Guilt by officials”. They are concentrating on the Freedoms that have been taken away.

I expect to see more people out and about and more small businesses opening up as well. Why not? Govt has put them into backed them into the proverbial corner of Financial Death so what do they have to lose? Staying closed means they’ll lose anyways.

No, in this regard, Government is NOT helping. So people are starting to ignore the Emergency orders, the diktats, and the ordinances. You’re seeing a nationwide Preference Cascade developing.  It’s Kevin Bacon in reverse:

And again, read the meme at the top of the page. Enjoy the Irish Democracy, oh elected ones!
