Stuck Inside? Try Some Free Online Courses Care-Of Cambridge, Harvard, and MIT

With all this talk about distance learning and online education for the kiddies, did you stop for a second and consider your own? You can and should because there are thousands of free online college classes from which to choose.

No, this is not third-party sponsored content. I stumbled over a story at Boston.com and thought, hey, our readers might not know about this.

Course resources include videos, reading materials, discussion forums, and — if you pursue a verified certificate in the class — graded assignments. The effort for each class varies from a few hours per week as you learn about the rise of superheroes in pop culture with instructors from the Smithsonian, to around 10 hours a week as professors from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid introduce you to the world of java programming.

edX.org offers over 2500 classes from major universities around the world so if you find yourself running out of things to do or even if you don’t, now might be a great time to take some classes!
