I am finally getting back to writing a bit more as TMEW continues to recover from her knee replacement surgery a month ago. Not back to my normal pace but let me continue with the Governor’s hissy fit about FEMA’s “gifting” the State with 15 Abbott ID Now test kits.
The “5 minutes for a positive/15 minutes for a negative” test instruments set up to do molecular testing for the virus.
It was quickly developed and received emergency acceptance by the FDA for rollout. The link has a date of March 27 – not even three weeks ago. It takes time to ramp up although the firm said that it would start deploying it “next week” (that would be the week of April 30th) and be creating about one million test kits during the month of April.
What would you expect development/approval/deployment done at lightspeed (and for something like this, this is “blink of an eye” whenever you see the words “approval” and “FDA”.
So here goes Gov Sununu just having a RANT on Statewide TV last night (and not a peep of pushback from WMUR for context like the abridged one above) all worked up that NH got 15 machines but only 120 test kits (of which 20 are used for calibration).
Why would you send out 13 machines and not, send to a State, and not give them any ability to use it? Like none. There’s literally nothing you can do with this machine if you don’t have proprietary stuff coming from the CDC and FEMA? So, it’s incredibly frustrating….of course it’s their responsibility.
Sidenote: while the segment was on at News 9 and 11 broadcasts, I can’t find it on their site (not in the Health, Politics, or Coronavirus sections) else I’d link it.
Sorry, if you KNEW they were coming, were they a gift or did you have a Purchase Order relationship? If the former, stop your yammering and don’t blame the CDC / FEMA (there’s lots of blame to place on them but this wouldn’t be part of it). If it was, who didn’t tell your Purchasing Dept to get on the stick and figure out who needed to be contacted? And what the promise delivery dates were so as to not make your boss look like the south end of a donkey for all the other stuff that IS your responsibility?
And if the latter, was any of it marked Back Ordered or Out of Stock. Again, look at the above “creating about one million test kits during the month of April“. What was the Agreement you made with them – and still allowed him to be the south end of a mule?
Sorry. Not Sorry. Somebody didn’t do their job right. At no point during that sound bite does Sununu even mention the particulars of who, what, when, where, and why. And certainly, WMUR could be bothered in setting a good context for watchers to understand what was actually happening – THEY failed to do their journalism homework.
Which often seems to happen for these paid professionals. Well, in fact, any of the NH based media that I can tell.
