Property Management Company Tells Renters No Guests ‘cuz Coronavirus or Else!

Harbour Property Management has sent a letter to all the renters living in their properties. It politely tells them that they are no longer allowed to have any visitors. Say what?

ICYMI –  Yes, Vermont DID Restrict the Sale of Seeds in Some Stores ‘cuz COVID-19, and a Lot More

“…in accordance with state-wide restrictions that the governor has imposed, we ask that you not allow any visitors into any of our buildings, common areas, or your apartment.”

Harbour Management letter 2

I’m not familiar with any Emergency Orders from Governor Sununu prohibiting people from visiting you in your home. Even if you happen to be renting the place you call home. I think we need to call BS on this.

Any of the lawyers who write for or read us should take a long look at this and shoot us an email or drop a few notes in comments if  you have any; email is better.

I think it is reasonable to suggest that social distancing rules could be applied in common areas based on Emergency Orders but an all-out ban on non-residents (in your apartment) seems beyond the realm of believability.

As for “may be in violation of your lease,” I’ve no idea what is in your lease but I’d love to see the language that allows the management company to prohibit you from having visitors in your apartment.

Here is the complete letter.
