Opposite Day – Mexicans Demand Crackdown on Americans Crossing their Border

Flag Mexico

Citizens in Sonora Mexico are making demands and taking action. They are blocking entry lanes from Arizona at the Nogales crossing into Mexico. They don’t want any Americans to get into their country without being tested first.

Maybe US residents need to form a caravan. Appeal to the national elites. Get themselves some free food, housing, and perhaps even traffic in women and children. Drug Mules? Only if it’s a cure for COVID-19. Otherwise, stay home infected Yankees.

Wait, I know what it is. They are afraid some Canadians will sneak in disguised as American, eh?

Seriously,

On Wednesday, a small group of protesters demanded tighter border restrictions by Mexico’s federal government. Swathed in protective masks, the protesters rallied near a major port of entry between Nogales, Sonora, and Nogales, Arizona, the city that sits just north of the border. They held neon-colored signs demanding action from President López Obrador.

Mexico’s border is already restricted. No non-essential travel. But that does not restrict entry for medical appointments or similar business and these activists are concerned. They worry that filthy Americans could be carrying Coronavirus and there is no testing or screening in place.

Some think they should secure the border. Does that mean in both directions?

Part of this frustration comes from their government’s apparent disinterest in the pandemic. The opposite of our problem here in the US where politicians and others are over-reacting. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador,

released a video from a restaurant in Oaxaca urging viewers to continue patronizing restaurants, supporting Mexican businesses and not to stop going out.

“I am going to tell you when not to go out,” he told viewers.

Well, at least that part sounds more like US politicians.
