If Safety Matters Why Are Democrats Pushing a Bill That Makes Firearm Ownership More Dangerous?

The left wants to confiscate your guns. Party leaders are not shy about that. In states like New Hampshire, the pining presents itself incrementally. Nibble and niggle away at your rights. Make it harder for law-abiding citizens to buy, own, store, carry, or use.

But no one wants to deny you those rights, they say. We just need a few “common sense” gun laws. You know, like they have in Chicago.

And the Left is always talking about safety and training. Safety, safety, safety! But SB469, which is expected to see a floor vote in the State Senate this week, not only nibbles away at your Second Amendment rights, it makes owning a firearm less safe.

SB 469 ‘repeals and reenacts the statute governing shooting ranges and subjects an owner or operator of a shooting range to civil and criminal liability for violation of noise ordinances or damage to persons or property caused by the operation of a shooting range.’

The entire point of the bill is to shut ranges down. Period. The rules change make it almost impossible to run a range or use one. But range practice is critical to the safe and proficient use of any firearm.

In other words, SB469 is an act of government force that makes the (otherwise) legal right to own and carry a firearm, less safe.

The act of getting to the range, for many, is like going to the gym. They mean to do it but never make the time. This addition of burdensome and nearly impossible limitations will only discourage more people from making time to practice.

We need to encourage the use of these facilities but SB469 sends the opposite message.

The New Hampshire Senate will likely vote on this bill tomorrow. Contact your State Senator and ask them why they would vote to impact firearms safety in this way?
