Has Governor Chris Sununu consumed some of the pandemic Dempanic kool-aid? He just ordered all “nonessential businesses” in the state to close at 11:59 pm this Friday (tomorrow), March 27th. With a bunch of caveats.
They must be nonessential but there are no real guidelines for that. And,
Sununu noted that this is not an order to (shelter) in place, something he said he does not have the authority to do. He said no one’s prevented from leaving their homes, transportation isn’t shutting down, and the state’s borders are not closed.
“No governor can shut down their border,” Sununu said.
This means that this is not a shelter in place order. You can still go shopping for food or supplies at any time. Or, do anything else.
I happen to work for an “essential business” so I will be going to work, and shopping as needed before or after. In other words, nothing changes much. Not for me.
Everyone else employed in “non-essential businesses” has just been laid off. Unless your employer decides you are essential, as in they are declaring their business is essential (for example) to you collecting a paycheck.
Supporting local businesses seems essential to me. Getting takeout from a local restaurant, getting gas, so on and so forth. And since there is no policing powers attached to this of which I am aware, what does it all mean.
Nothing, really.
I may be stretching the perception a bit but until I hear more, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Okay, well, there is this.
THREAD: Today, I announced that the State of New Hampshire will be issuing a Stay-at-Home order and directing all non-essential businesses that have not already voluntarily closed to end in-person and public-interacting operations by 11:59 PM tomorrow, March 27, 2020. pic.twitter.com/wLO7KZB2hj
