My apologies for the back-to-back global epidemic posts but we have a confirmed case of Coronavirus south of the New Hampshire border.

A UMass Boston student returning to school from Wuhan, China, is the first confirmed case of the potentially deadly novel coronavirus in Massachusetts.
The student, a male in his 20s, landed at Logan International Airport on Jan. 28 with a runny nose. He sought medical treatment on Jan. 29, public health officials said.
He did not require hospitalization and has been “isolated” at his home — an off-campus residence– while public health nurses continue to monitor his condition, city and state health officials said in a telephone press conference Saturday, adding that the student was “doing quite well.”
Recently back from Wuhan City – surprise!
“I want to let you know that a member of the UMass Boston community who recently returned from Wuhan, China has tested positive for the novel coronavirus,” interim Chancellor Katherine Newman wrote in the letter, a copy of which the university provided to the Herald.

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): A Boston friend emails: “They aren’t saying, but wild guess, he’s one of the 25,000 Chinese nationals enrolled in Boston-area universities, who all just came back from winter break, and he’s just the first. Stay tuned for the dorm outbreak.” That’s plausible, but let’s hope it’s wrong. And let’s also hope that the stats we’re seeing about mortality are correct.
That does sound like the most plausible explanation. And yes, that means there will probably be more. This stinker spreads like Fake News about Trump in the media. The difference is Coronavirus is deadly and the Main Stream Media is killing itself. Oh, and there’s a cure for them. New media.
Let’s cross our fingers, pray, or dance widdershins around the fire (see how inclusive I am) and hope this sucker doesn’t run loose across the North East. I don’t want to spend my day wearing these things.
One more point. They are saying the student only came in contact with a handful of people.
“very few, we could really count them on our fingers,”
Really. Only a handful of people were on his plane, or at the airport in Boston? Hmmm…
Update:The hits just keep on coming… China has also announced an outbreak of Bird Flu among chickens in Hunan Province – near Wuhan City, actually.
