Is Shiite Islam The Religion of Peace?

Iran Flag

The President’s decision to carry out an airstrike in Iraq, the result of which was the deaths of Qassem Soleimani, the leader of Iran’s Quds Forces, and Kataib Hezbollah leader Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes was long overdue.

The pair died in a car near Baghdad’s international airport. Soleimani is responsible for many deaths including Americans. His death will test the assertion that Islam is the religion of peace.

Why they died

General Soleimani is dead because he was an evil individual who murdered Americans. Americans should be proud of our service members who got the job done. Tehran is on edge. The mullahs in Iran are responsible for the deaths of at least a thousand Iranian protesters. Iran is well advised to consider their actions before lashing out further. Hopefully, they grok that the U.S. military can, and will, bring any and all of the IRGC butchers to their knees.

There has been wide reporting on the internet and in English language papers, such as New York Daily News and The Sun (UK), that for the first time in history the red Islamic flag of war has been raised over one of Iran’s holiest mosques. The red flag flying is a symbol of spilled blood. It is also a call for revenge in Shia Islam. The banner was raised Saturday over the Jamkaran mosque on the outskirts of the Iranian city of Qom. Logic should tell us this is in response to the killing of Qassem Soleimani.

Where the banner was raised may be more important than its inherent meaning. Qom, and the surrounding area, is the site of several important shrines for Shiite Muslims. It serves as a major center of religious learning for the sect. There are about 225 million Shiite Muslims worldwide.

The choice to raise the standard in the area may have also another meaning. Qom sits about 20 miles from one of Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities. Perhaps the Iranian Shiites trying to bring attention to an ability to deliver nuclear weapons? The leadership of Iran has vowed to end Israel and conduct genocide against all Jews. They also hate America.

The Mullahs, Democrats and the Media

Qassem Soleimani was killed when his convoy was targeted and destroyed by an American drone strike. The strike, ordered by President Trump has drawn praise from corners around the world. The exception seems to be Iran and critics of the president in America, mostly partisan Democrat and Socialist politicians and the media.

The Department of Defense released a statement after the drone strike. In it they explain Soleimani was in Iraq to plan and carry out attacks against Americans in the country.

“General Soleimani was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region… General Soleimani and his Quds Force were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American and coalition service members and the wounding of thousands more. He had orchestrated attacks on coalition bases in Iraq over the last several months – including the attack on December 27th – culminating in the death and wounding of additional American and Iraqi personnel. General Soleimani also approved the attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad that took place this week.”

Democrats and the leftist media rushed to paint Soleimani as a gentle and introspective man. Maybe he was, but his actions in life were also those of a bloodthirsty terrorist responsible much of the jihadi activity worldwide. He acted as the representative of Iran. He was its military leader. Iran is a state sponsor of terror. Since the killing, Iran has made clear it intends retaliation.

Conclusion

President Trump maintains his action against Soleimani was not to start a war, but to prevent one. The ball is now in Iran’s court. The country has a choice to make. Will it go forward with jihad or pursue a path of peace? Let’s call it a test of the Religion of Peace. Do you practice what you preach? Is Shiite Islam the religion of peace so many claim?
