Back in 2015, Iran was a heady topic of discussion. Democrats lead by Obama went on their appeasement binge. Not just to the mullah’s but to foreign nations anxious to sell the terrorist regime goods, weapons, materials.

Iran was happy to agree to almost anything to restore the cash flow and goods to keep the people from forming an uprising. Obama, Kerry, and Democrats empowered a brutal regime. We took them to task then, even Ben and Jerry, the ice cream socialists, who said,
Right now we have an amazing opportunity to defend the Obama administration’s historic diplomatic deal to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons. And yet, some of the same warmongers who led us into Iraq want to sabotage this deal and put us on a path to war with Iran—and some Democrats are thinking about going along with them!
Pimping and pandering to the left’s desire to empower a nation committed to two things. The destruction of our ally Israel, and Death to America. I noted that it was an,
Interesting leap. If we keep doing what we’ve been doing (letting Iran wage war on us and our allies through terrorist proxies while we do nothing about it) then that will lead to a war. But if we let them continue to wage war on us while we do nothing, remove sanctions, allow them access to hundred of billions of dollars in frozen assets, and the pursuit of even more devastating weapons of war, well–that will ensure peace.
Not much has changed. Democrats are still siding with the death to America mullahs. Some might wonder why. Glen Reynolds shared this thoughtful bit (from a friend) at Instapundit that explains some of it.
Following the death of Soleimani, it seems like nearly the entire DC/academia/ journo natsec/forpol commentariat has penned variations on exactly the same essay: the President has acted hastily, has no plan, and isn’t capable of envisioning or handling what happens next. The template was established by Ben Rhodes on Twitter a few hours after an MQ-9 Reaper shot a Hellfire missile directly into his professional legacy, and it hasn’t varied much since.
Yet the more we learn — about the deliberations preceding the strike, about the chain of events leading to it, about the prior and subsequent moves by CENTCOM to harden the American position in the region — the more it seems that the President acted with deliberate aforethought, that he does in fact have a plan, and therefore likely is capable of envisioning and handling what happens next. That much is only fair, whether or not one agrees with the decision as such.
What nearly the entire DC / academia / journo natsec/forpol commentariat actually means by its critique, though, is that they weren’t included in any of this. Ben Rhodes took the time to rally them together, get their talking points aligned, illuminate a pathway to social and professional advancement: that’s their preferred template for Iran-related policymaking.
Donald Trump’s template for Iran-related policymaking is the smoking wreckage of a terror mastermind’s vehicle. The courtiers see it, and want to know what’s in it for them.
Americans see it, and they know.
Do they?
We’re doing our part here, here, here, here, here, and here, (in just the past two days, with more to come tomorrow.) to make sure they do. Yes, it helps to have an academic expert on the region writing for you.
The Democrats are out of touch. If fake impeachment didn’t clue you in the media and establishment reaction to the death of a terrorist should. And Democrats can’t help themselves, so they will be making our jobs easy.
One more point. I just saw a headline suggesting House Democrats were going to vote on a resolution to protect Iran from Trump. Apparently it is time to reclaim war powers form the executive branch. Which is necessary to be sure but consider this. If Obama had killed a Middle Eastern general responsible for killing Americans, the left and the media would throw him a parade.
And on a lighter note, in case you now have to hear the Flock of Seagulls song (having no relation to Iran but so, what), here it is. Warning. The music video did not age well.
