There’s an Election Coming

by

There’s an election coming, can you tell? The squads of Leftists are going nuts. They seem to think that if they can vote for impeachment it means automatic reelection. They forgot a few things though. Chief among the things they have forgotten is that talk is cheap.

Throwing around charges is easy. They have been doing those things for years. Proving your charges is a very different thing. Getting a conviction means having to prove your charges.

What kind of process?

The leftists in our government are now talking a lot about being faithful to the intentions of the framers of the constitution. Was that what they were doing when they held closed door hearings? Were they doing that hen they did not allow representation for the accused? Is this the way impeachment has been done in the past? Should precedent matter?

Should facts be required to bring charges? Exactly which charges are they leveling? I don’t like you? Is that the impeachment charge? State department officials disagree with the president’s foreign policy and have acted in contravention of it. Is that a charge that can be leveled against the president? Wait, maybe that it the State Department officials admitting to sedition.

The Left’s three main witnesses this week recited a litany of the ways and reasons they believed that Trump was the devil personified. They repeated and repeated and repeated he should be run out of DC on a rail. Unfortunately for the Leftists they have produced no evidence to support their assertions. All they have proven is they do not like the occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

What kind of proof?

There was another witness, also a registered Democrat who had a different position. He doesn’t believe the Left has presented a coherent case explaining what the impeachment infraction is. He remains unsure what the infraction is; let alone why it requires impeachment. To the extent he is correct that’s a blow to the case. So, how are the Dem’s handling the divergence in opinions?

Matt Gaetz tweeted, “If you accept all of their presumptions, it would be obstruction. But impeachments have to be based on proof, not presumptions.” -Professor Jonathan Turley #ImpeachingHearings #ImpeachmentHearing

Mark Meadows tweeted, “Jonathan Turley, not a Trump supporter, looks at Democrats and delivers one of the most powerful quotes of the hearing so far: ‘If you make a high crime and misdemeanor out of going to the courts, it is an abuse of power. It’s YOUR abuse of power.’”

Andy Biggs tweeted, “RATCLIFFE: So if I were to summarize your testimony – no bribery, no extortion, no obstruction of justice, no abuse of power. Is that fair?
TURLEY: ‘Not on this record.’
Case closed. Time to shut down this partisan sham.”

Reporting

Reuters tweeted, “‘Does that track with the rule of law?’: Prof. Jonathan Turley challenges how quickly the #impeachmentinquiry has been carried out and tells lawmakers there is not enough evidence to prove a quid pro quo took place.

ABC News tweeted, “Rep. Collins: ‘Is there a concern that if we say the facts don’t matter, that we’re also…abusing our power?’
Turley: ‘I think so. And part of the problem is that to bring a couple of these articles, you have to contradict the position of Pres. Obama.’

The players

It is going to be interesting to see what if anything the Leftist, such as Chris Pappas and Annie Kuster do. We know there isn’t support for impeachment in the Senate. The process in the House has been a partisan excrement exhibition in terms of both process and substance. The people in charge of the process have not been investigators of fact. They were chosen for their lack of credibility and partisanship. There’s an election coming.

To date all we have accomplished is to out the legislative branch for trying to make American government a parliamentary system. The House clearly believes the executive branch should be subservient to their dictates. Despite their mewling to the contrary, these people dislike and intend to change not only the person holding the office of the president but also our basic form of government.

What we are watching is a challenge, not to Donald Trump, but to the Republic which has stood for nearly two and a half centuries. And we are doing it eleven months before the election? How can a set of facts such as these be anything but a description of a hyper-partisan political attack? Has Congress done anything for you that improved your standard of living? What has Congress done that makes you more secure? What has Congress done at all? There’s an election coming. Are you ready to vote?
