Grokster Ian Makes my Head Hurt for Good Reasons – These Academic Gobbledygooks, Not so much!

by Skip

I’ve put up a couple of these Academic Gobbledygooks before. Mostly, from Powerline. Nut this one from The Blaze? I have NO idea what this WS 375U class is about at all! I know what gender is and what sexuality is but what is a “queer body” as opposed to my body or yours.

We all take up space. We all have identifiable attributes for being a human body. But how does one tell a queer body from a normal body?

Is there some special mark, extra or fewer body parts?  And what the heck is “settler colonialism” apart from, say, the Puritans or Americans going Westward?

How about Britain, like many of the other European countries, establishing colonies in far lands. What about the American Indians who fought over lands as well as the Mayans and Aztecs?

And “Queer Environmental Futurity” to add to that “what the heck” list?

It’s like they just create words out of whole cloth to make themselves look smarter than everyone else – think a  clickbait link that once you go to the destination, you find more stupid stuff than what you ever wanted to know. That’s free, however (unless you pick up an Internet disease that never goes away). But this Lisa Weasel (sorry, no jokes on that last name this time) wants you to pay good money to listen to this dribble.

Or is that queer money?

Certainly, Portland State University isn’t going to do this for free, no matter WHAT Bernie, Warren, and the rest of the Socialist Democrat clown car of Prez Wannabees want to “give you for free.” They may be extremely left-leaning but like any capitalist, they wanna get paid for their services.

Funny how that works, ain’t it? Always after other peoples’ money, but I digress. Then there is this: WS 381:

“Queer of Color Theorizing: “utilizes critical race, feminist, queer, decolonial, and materialist analyses, queer of color theories highlight the intersections of race, sexuality, and nations. Taught by professor Eddy Alvarez, is described as an “overview of the development and foundational approaches to queer of color critiques, as well as an opportunity to apply these theories to contemporary issues.”

Queer of color Critiques?? C’mon, there just HAS to be some little software app out there that has a database of “woke” words that just strings them all together. “This time, include “queer” and two words starting with ‘C'” – and this is what we end up.

Sorry, I have NO idea what any of that means even as I hold two STEM degrees.  Either that makes me real stupid or has academia gotten so possessed by the minutia of such a nano-sized slice of the population that they’ve lost sight of what real knowledge is and are off in their “would you like fries with that?” World.

Oh, right – kiosks. I guess their only financial recourse is to become HR managers

And by the way, Portland State has a graduation rate of only 48%. I’m wondering what the impact on employment rates are by the above type classes.
