The Right is just using the Left’s new rules: Sean Spicer and ‘Dancing with the Stars’

by Skip

I’ll admit it – I used to watch Dancing with the Stars on an occasional basis and yes, I wanted to see if some of these folks toted as Stars could really dance. TMEW, on the other hand, for some strange and unknown reason, still has some affection for the show and is a regular watcher. For those few souls unfamiliar with the premise, the “Stars” are pulled from all areas of life especially if they were perceived to have some “status” with some kind of demographic: entertainers, politicians, athletes, and the like. Also, ‘senior citizens’ were pitched again “young’uns” as well. Usually (but not always lately), the better dancers, regardless of background, generally did well. Each week has an overall theme that is applied to songs issued to Stars and their professional ballroom dancers (who really ARE quite good).   And then came along Sean Spicer, this year’s version of a sop.

Well, the show managers thought he was, anyways.

Well, with a show that has a mix of Judges (actually professionals in the world of dance) and popular votes, there were those that overstayed their welcome simply by dint of having a LOT of the public votes that overwhelmed the Judge Vote as well as public votes for others actually more skilled than them. And of course, many of the “hardcore fans” that were for the actual dance were upset a lot of times when those that were pretty good were voted out for those that had more public / nostalgic appeal but were far worse. This year, from what I have gathered, is no exception but in a FAR bigger way than anyone thought.

And then came Sean Spicer.

TMEW save a couple of his routines.  He was, comparable to the more skilled contestents, fairly awful (but he did show that he was really enjoying himself immensely as in “hey, I know I’m just a sacrificial lamb and I *might* last two weeks so might as well smile about it and have a good time”.  Like Skip-bad (I never have really danced at all so there you go). But he has kept winning, week after week. And for those few souls who are unfamiliar of who this Sean Spicer is, he is the former Press Secretary to President Trump.  THAT alone should have been a bullseye across his chest, back, and forehead for elimination.  Funny thing though – it hasn’t.

To the point that TMEW (who knows these things) has said that a lot of folks associated with the show (like Tom Bergeron, former NH TV host here in NH and current host on DWS) were downright angry Spicer was even asked to be on the show and even madder he’s mad that Spicer has made it this far. Folks like him, and others, are blaming POLITICS!

To wit:

Watching Mr. Spicer try to wipe away some of his disgrace through dancing hurts. Yet here he is, week after week, using dance as a way to redeem his character. Giving the public the chance to laugh with him — dressed as a buffoon in that scary green ruffled shirt, dancing to “Spice Up Your Life” — and not at him comes off as a calculation, on his (and probably the show’s) part.

His lone sense of disgrace, of course, is being a Republican and an employee of President Trump. That “using dance as a way to redeem” shows the real butt-hurt of the Left – and through it, confirms that Hillary’s use of the word “Irredeemable” was not a one-off affair. The Left is, of course, all lit up with hatred that the Right decided to play along in their game (here – see the tweets).

Well of COURSE it is – the Left has politicized EVERY aspect of Live. Go ahead, name me ONE aspect of life that hasn’t been inflicted with the Left’s version of pestilence. So why not this? Why shouldn’t the Right play the same game – and actually win it all?  Why not? Again, the Left made up the Rules, the Right is only living up by them. The only question will be if DWS decides to change the rules in mid-stream.

Gawd, I do hope he wins.

And there is also this:

But always remember, they hate us, we of the “absolute death cult”. All of us (and I don’t even watch):
