Ran across this over at Instapundit:
MY RUGER LCP BENEFITED FROM HAVING A COUPLE OF HUNDRED ROUNDS RUN THROUGH IT. Handgun Break-In: Is It Needed? It jammed twice on the first box of ammo, but has been totally reliable since I broke it in.
Funny that Glenn Reynolds would state that he had a Ruger LCP; I only had a couple of burps when I first started to use mine when new and then it just ran. However, I just sold it…
…and replaced it with a new pistol. I wanted a 9mm instead of a .380 and with more capacity. So after doing some research on the latest and greatest, went down to Epping, NH to Sig Sauer and purchased the P365XL (with a light). Went to my local range a few days later and put about 250 rounds down range and then did the same thing the following week. Absolutely flawless with no hiccups what so ever. No rapid fire – just slow at first but mostly because I haven’t shot much these last three years and I didn’t want to rush myself. I will say that it lives up to the hype I read of being very accurate – I’m better with the P365 than my full size Springfield XD. Which reminds me I need to go sometime next week.
So, what do YOU do when you with a new piece? Do you follow the manufacturer’s instructions, just have at it, or do something in between? Or totally different? Let me know in the comments.
