Women’s Defense League Statement on Governor Sununu’s Vetoes of Anti-Gun Legislation

Concord, NH – The Women’s Defense League of NH applauds Governor Sununu’s veto of three bills that would roll-back the Granite State’s 245-year history of upholding the right of its citizens to defend themselves, their families, and their state against those who would disarm them.

HB 109 (universal background checks), HB 514 (waiting period), HB 564 (school “safe” zones)  seek to individually and collectively criminalize law-abiding New Hampshire citizens by corrupting state and federal firearms law as well as such basic tenets of the NH constitution as the right of each citizen to due process.

Susan Olsen, Director of Legislation for the League says,

“It’s no surprise Bloomberg-funded Democrats were able to pass these destructive gun-control bills in the Dem controlled NH legislature. What’s hypocritical is that the sponsor of two of these bills – convicted of assault – and two more Democrat state representatives, who were caught on video threatening a private citizen, and supported these bills – want law-abiding citizens disarmed.  .”

These bills were wrong for New Hampshire and we thank Governor Sununu for recognizing their threat not just to NH law-abiding citizens but NH’s constitution as well.
