Sununu Signs HB608 – Gender Rights Supersede The rights of Biological Women and Taxpayers

As I’ve noted repeatedly while Republican Governor Chris Sununu has held fast on gun rights and economic issues, he sucks on social issues. So, it’s no surprise he just signed HB608, which gives gender, whatever that means, rights over those of biological women.

Add to that the potential loss of rights of taxpayers or people of religious conscience. Because HB 608 adds Gender identity (whatever that is) as a superior class throughout New Hampshire State Law. And yes, it does have power over them, that and more.

The Problem?

As HB 608 applies to public accommodations, it would revise RSA (state law) 354-A in a manner implying that women’s’ shelters, sports leagues, and fitness facilities and their changing areas could no longer be reserved for individuals of one biological sex. Would there be any place left of which someone could say “this is a space reserved for biological women”?

It doesn’t end there. In fact, there is no end to the questions, most of which will be played out in courtrooms between unsuspecting parents, towns, teachers, school districts, and any number of other circumstances, not the least of which is girls’ athletics.

Shannon McGinley from Cornerstone outlined the risks back in May. Questions no one answered that remain up in the air until something happens.

  • As the bill applies to residential care and health facilities, would it require every state-licensed hospital to perform surgeries and administer drugs for gender reassignment?
  • Would faculty in a religious hospital fall afoul of HB 608?
  • Are taxpayers required to pay for all surgical treatments for a person diagnosed with gender dysphoria who is located in a state mental health institution?
  • Does this open the state to have to pay for plastic surgery as part of gender reassignment?
  • HB 608’s addition of “gender identity” to New Hampshire health care insurers’ non-discrimination requirements presumably means that no insurer could decline to cover or pay for gender reassignment procedures and drugs.
  • HB 608 as written would violate the religious beliefs of some of your New Hampshire neighbors, who wish not to be compelled to help provide amputation of healthy organs and administration of cross-sex hormones to children and adults alike.

We’re about to find out because large sums of your money are about to redirected annually. Not just to these purposes but to the cost of legal challenges they incur as a result of badly written legislation rubber-stamped by social liberals.
