Do Jeanne Shaheen or Maggie Hassan Support Senate Dem’s Threat to Pack the Supreme Court?

A week ago we reported on a letter from five Democrat US Senators “threatening” the US Supreme Court. That brief, filed by Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse, caught the attention of Judicial Watch.

Monday, Judicial Watch filed a complaint with the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee of Rhode Island’s Supreme Court against Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, alleging he engaged in the unauthorized practice of law.

The complaint alleges “Whitehouse filed a brief with U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of four clients while maintaining inactive status and that the brief was nothing more than an attack on the federal judiciary and an open threat to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Whitehouse is not licensed to practice Law anywhere but Rhode Island and his status there, as noted, is inactive. This sounds like a nuisance suit to me but to the latter point, they may have something.

The tone of the letter is deliberately intimidating. My take on their intention was that,

If you don’t interpret the Constitution the way we say, we’re going to use our power to change you until you do.

It’s the pack the court narrative. It’s all the rage on the left these days. Sorry, it’s driven by all their left-wing rage these days. Impotent to prevent the appointment of judges in the federal courts who are less likely to legislate from the bench, Senators Sheldon Whitehouse, Mazie Hirono, Richard Blumenthal, Richard Durbin, and Kirsten Gillibrand decided to wake them up with a rhetorical “horses head” in their bed.

The Supreme Court is not well. And the people know it. Perhaps the Court can heal itself before the public demands it be “restructured in order to reduce the influence of politics.

That is still laugh-out-loud funny. The Democrats politicized the courts. This letter is a political threat to advance a partisan political agenda lest they use political will to remake a court that will do their bidding.

And while Congress can or could remake the courts – it’s in the Constitution – doing it and saying this first, are two different matters.

Cranky Sheldon Whitehouse deserves whatever gnats this complaint sends his way, as do his co-conspirators.

What we’ve not heard yet is Sen. Shaheen or Sen. Hassan thought. We know they are cranky about the makeup of the court. They are also as anti-gun as they come, being good little narrative regurgitators.

Do they support or oppose the Whitehouse-Durbin ultimatum? Will we ever find out?

Probably not. Local media’s trigger for such introspection requires that one of the players on the stage be a registered Republican and these are all Democrats.

Perhaps one or more of their constituents will ask.
