Note: I have known Bill for years. In fact, it was GraniteGrok that made, as NH State Rep Bob Meade told me later, earthquakes go off when we endorsed him in the NH Speaker race – which he won. He then did what most thought was impossible back in 2010: closed the $800 million (or so) deficit that the Democrats had left as a “trap” in order to force O’Brien into reluctantly starting either a sales tax or an income tax.
The smirks were wirebrushed off the Democrats politicians’ faces when he DID defend ALL NH taxpayers by closing that gap WITHOUT any broadbased taxes and created a lasting climate in which the budget took a number of years to reach what the Dems had tried to create way back then. He has a proven track record, here at home, of acknowledging that the New Hampshire Advantage is a real, positive ideal and has fought for it his entire career. Traditional values, Conservative values, frugality, self-reliance, local control.
“Live Free or Die” is not just the State’s motto to Bill. It IS his political ethos, it is his foundation – it is his political home.
