GOP Launches WinRed – A Republican Version of ActBlue

ActBlue has been around for 15 years raising hundreds of millions in small dollar donations for Democrats at every level. Republicans have made no serious effort to compete effectively at that level until now. And you probably have Donald Trump to thank for that.

Originally registered as Patriot Pass (changed because it reminded some hater of the New England Patriots), WinRed is the new online money game from the Trump Campaign, Republican National Committee, NRSC, and NRCC. It’s ActBlue for Republican Candidates.

Under the arrangement, Data Trust, the RNC’s designated clearinghouse of voter information, will form a joint venture with Revv, a donation processor used by the Trump campaign. The two entities will form the nucleus of Patriot Pass WinRed.

According to WinRed, any donor data is only used to improve voter modeling though I’m not clear on how that information is made available. Candidates will (of course) have access to their donors and can use the tool to help them for reporting where required.

President Trump, Jared Kushner, the RNC, and other party leaders ironed out the details, came to a mutually beneficial agreement and pulled the trigger.

WinRed’s president, Gerrit Lansing, and former Republican National Committee chief of staff Mike Shields, who is also involved in the project, met with House GOP leaders Sunday to update them on the launch.

Trump praised the website’s launch, tweeting that WinRed will help Republicans “compete with the Democrats money machine.”

This new platform will allow my campaign and other Republicans to compete with the Democrats money machine,” he said. “This has been a priority of mine and I’m pleased to share that it is up and running!”

Agreement indeed, check out this quote.

“A unified GOP fundraising platform will allow us to harness the enthusiasm for President Trump’s agenda, build a long-term small-dollar network and win in 2020,” said NRSC Chairman Todd Young in a statement.

They need it. Down-ticket Republicans will benefit. And I find it interesting that the so-called most divisive president ever is the guy who managed to see it done. For the benefit of all Republican candidates, presumably.

The site is fully mobile device compatible at WinRed.com.
