How DARE you appropriate OUR Letters? LGBTQers are miffed

by

Once again, one of the Progressive’s protected identity groups is up in arms that someone had the temerity to re-purpose THEIR letters from our Common Alphabet!  Miffed, steamed, upset, ticked, blown away and angry that somebody wanted to “culturally appropriate” their monniker.  If you have been living as a solitary Monk for the last 5 decades, it commonly stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, and Queer.  Now some food truck operator comes along with this:

POKE. In. The. Eye. Frankly, I like it – and a quick Google search doesn’t show that “LGBTQ” isn’t trademarked, so why CAN’T he use it?

A Kentucky barbecue food joint is facing the wrath of the liberal outrage mob online after the business began selling T-shirts redefining the meaning of “LGBTQ.

What, only the Left is allowed to redefine our language?  Who died and made them King of Linguistics and Spelling Bees?

Traditionally, the “LGBTQ” acronym is an ode to marginalized sexual identities. But Belle’s Smoking BBQ, which operates out of a food truck, recently began selling T-shirts that radically redefine what LGBTQ means. Instead of “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer,” the shirts say: “I support LGBTQ: Liberty, Guns, Bible, Trump, BBQ.”

Liberty, Guns, Bible, Trump?  I’m betting there’s a whole lotta people out there that would assent to that.  And BBQ as well?  Sure!

Restaurant owner Jamie Smith told the Courier Journal that he and his workers have worn the shirts for more than a year and a half now, but only received backlash after he advertised the merchandise on social media, which triggered an avalanche of progressive indignation.

Here, I have a bottle of TUMS – want one?

Smith said that within just hours of posting the shirt online, social media “went berserk.” Then came the threatening calls, of which Smith said he fielded “about 30.”

Of course, the grievance mongers / SJWs can’t STAND that someone has different ideas about how things can be.  And for all their talk about “tolerance”, the Left and its allies have absolutely NO tolerance for free thinkers.  Good for him – oh, oops!

The attention forced Smith to delete the Facebook post advertising the shirts, where he later posted an apology.

“Belle’s Smoking BBQ apologizes if we have offended any groups, organizations or individuals with our shirts. We respect all beliefs and lifestyles and want no ill will towards anyone,” the statement said. “We know each person has their own thoughts and beliefs but we are hurt that the people who are saying, ‘stop the hate’ are the ones coming at us with the harassing messages and threatening phone calls. Again we apologize for any hurt feelings and thank our supporters who truly know us.”

Yeah, that was a mistake.  Apologies to the Left is like chum to them – there’s never enough, they fight over them, and in the end, nothing is left of the chum (or the apology) in the water. I can understand if he’s not an Internet denizen wise to the ways of the SJW flash mobs full of faux outrage.  He should have just realized how redefined “G” and smiled.

Smith told WXIX-TV he did not intend to offend anyone, but said he felt the need to take a “stand” for his values. “At the end of the day, we have to stand for what we believe in. And like I said, if this has offended anyone, that wasn’t our intention,” Smith said. “But, it’s just a good play on words.

It was and still is.  I certainly appreciated it – and one microsecond after seeing the t-shirt, I could have written the post at The Blaze (and here, here) knowing how predictable the Left is and how LITTLE sense of humor they possess.  They brook no dissent (anyone else getting tired of me having to say that?  Me, too). Apparently, they never graduated from kindergarten either as they never learned to share – only “what’s mine is mine and what’s your’s is mine too (and that’s NOT up to debate according to that old phrase). So of course the instant outrage excited lots of pixels.  He should have just said the only responsible and proper response: “Up Yours!”.

But he is getting the last laugh:

How well did the T-shirts sell? According to WXIX, Smith has sold his entire inventory of shirts and already has a back order for more.

And while one customer — a local church — cancelled their food order over the controversy, Smith said the attention has already earned him four new customers.
