As NH Democrats Rush To Restrict Gun Rights NH Gun Maker’s Business is Booming

Did you know that SIG Sauer, in Newington, New Hampshire, is the largest exporter of small arms in the country? And a change proposed by the Trump Administration might make business even better. NHPR reports that,

Under the current regulatory system, domestic gun manufacturers must receive State Department approval to export small arms, including pistols, semi-automatic rifles and revolvers. The firearms industry is backing a plan that would shift the licensing process to the U.S. Commerce Department, a move that would benefit gun makers in two key ways.

No more registrations fees paid to the State Department and gun makers would no longer need to notify Congress on any small arms deal valued at more than one million dollars.

SIG is a major employer in New Hampshire. Those workers produced 83 million in exported arms in 2018.

Leftists are not happy about the rule change but when are they are ever happy about guns they don’t control? That would be never. One portion of the report mentions sales to Turkey in 2018 and a contract that was dropped after Turkish Security forces were seen mistreating protesters.

I seem to remember a New Hampshire governor making a big deal about expanding trade with Turkey. She even traveled there in 2014 in contradiction to her own travel ban. I can’t imagine her talking about long-term small arms sales but imagine if she did? Wouldn’t that be a hoot?
