Colorado Adds Seven More Sanctuary Counties for Gun Owner Rights

The number of sanctuary Counties for Law abiding gun owners continues to swell in States held or run by liberal state governments. The state of New Mexico has 33 counties, 29 of which are now sanctuaries for the Second Amendment.

Colorado, another liberal state pushing gun banning legislation into law just added seven more counties, bringing its total to nine.

9 News reports that Custer and Freemont are joined by “Kiowa, Montezuma, Otero, Weld, Moffat and Rio Blanco” counties. KRDO adds Teller County to the list.

The News9 article is titled “Multiple Colorado counties declare themselves ‘2nd Amendment sanctuaries’ as Red Flag bill progresses.”

Weld County Sheriff Steve Reams has been vocal about his opposition. The Board of Weld County Commissioners unanimously passed its resolution Wednesday.

“The very last choice I’d use in one of those situations is the use of a red flag law,” he told Next with Kyle Clark. “I’m going to go a different route any chance that I can.”

Through the resolution, the commissioners said they would not put money toward building a storage facility for weapons seized by law enforcement. Additionally, the commissioners said they will support Sheriff Reams if he decides not to enforce the bill if it becomes a law.

County commissions and County Sheriff’s in Colorado, Washington State, Oregon, New Mexico, and Illinois have all made 2A sanctuary declarations. They will default to federal laws related to firearms and disregard what they deem illegitimate state laws that violate the Constitution.

The latest threat is one we are familair with here in New Hampshire. Red Flag laws are the popular blonde with the gun-grabbing community. A catch-all opportunity to use hearsay to violate a handle of constitutional protections on the whim.

HB687 drew national attention over the great pearl controversy. A bill that would allow,

The rights of law-abiding gun owners across the state can be stripped away by an angry ex-husband or wife; a psychopathic ex-roommate; a pissed off Mother-in-Law; an abusive boyfriend OR the police can file a petition on ANYONE at ANY TIME.

New Hampshire has ten counties. I have yet to hear whether any of its sheriffs or county commissions would declare themselves second amendment sanctuaries. Democrat majorities will probably pass it in the house and the state senate. I’m not clear on Governor Sununu’s position but if I had to guess I think he’d veto it. Democrats do not have enough partisan votes to override a veto. They’d need Republican help.

That’s the key to the next two years. Getting Chris Sununu to veto all these bad bills and ensuring the GOP minority supports those vetoes.
