Nancy Pelosi introduced HR 1. An Act that includes many things. Its lead author, a Democrat, claims it will clean up Washington. Get those ‘special interests out of the way.’ Or, Maybe not. Among the changes is a provision that requires the President and Vice-president, and all Candidates for those offices, to release their tax returns to the public. Congress is exempt.

Nancy Pelosi Introduced the bill. Nancy has become a millionaire while serving her many years in Congress. Pelosi has refused or ignored opportunities to release her own tax returns.
All 535 members of both the House and the Senate were given the request. Six members complied and an additional 6 already had released their returns prior to the request.
On top of that, 45 members of Congress already had at least partially released their returns. This leaves 473 who did not release their returns either before or after the request.
Not surprisingly, now-Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to release her tax returns.
I can only assume that Pelosi and the bill’s authors realize that they can’t even get Democrats to vote for this if they too are required to subject themselves to their own laws.
Cleaning up Washington was never the point. “Transparency” is public relations spin. No one should take this any more seriously than any other act in their political theater.
