The Women’s March used women. Partisan Trump-hating hypocrites took advantage of them. It was never about equality for all women. It was about equity for some women and hatred for others. And a program that was destined to collapse under the weight of its own hypocrisy.
We reported last week on the march in California that had to be canceled because not enough women of color felt the need to participate. I noted then how that should mean something. If the (so-called) oppressed were not feeling enough pain to march, maybe they’d achieved something they were after. But no, the March needed women of color or, what? Bad optics? Proof that the charade was ax grinding fringe-left-wing politics and issues of liberal privilege?
Luckey for the movement that’s not their only problem.
Chicago canceled their March over the antisemitic leadership of the groups high-profile national “leaders.” The Washington chapter closed its doors for the same reason. And New Orleans has just canceled their March. The local National Organization of Women has more than pulled the plug.
“…this does not mean the end of our momentum in Louisiana. It’s time to look past the marching and look towards a new stage of the movement.
Going forward, we will re-organize and re-evaluate the momentum that the Women’s March gave all of us the first two years.
It is important for everyone to reach out into our local communities and find ways to get involved in the meantime. There are many advocacy groups doing great work in our state that should be supported with your time and money.”
That new stage (at least in Lousiana) is days of service, working in the local community. Doing things for women, all women, even the Jewish and Christian women (white women, pro-life women) that are conspicuously absent from National Women’s March principles or leadership.
“We must create a society in which all women — including Black women, Indigenous women, poor women, immigrant women, disabled women, Muslim women, lesbian, queer and trans women — are free.”
If NOW and local March Chapters can activate individuals to help real women in real need, then the project wasn’t a total waste. I’d be happy to support that sort of endeavor. But if all they plan to do is rub salt in wounds (many manufactured) as a Left-Wing GOTV scheme, then let the movement die with what little dignity remains.
Or, it could try being honest about what it is. No, actually, they can’t do that, can they?
By the way. As of this writing, none of the Women’s Marches in New Hampshire has been canceled.
This year, the march will celebrate the incredible progress we have made over the last two years, both nationally and in the Granite State, to advance and protect our rights.
I guess they mean the right to discriminate against women based on race and religion?
Asking for a friend.
