Mr. Trump likes to surround himself with fresh thinkers. That’s a nice way of saying everyone has a shelf life and it’s closer to milk than a Twinkie. Moving in and then out of the Trump orbit is common as he looks for the people who get things done on his schedule and to his liking.
He’ll give ’em a try and then move them along. Oh, and by the way, you’re fired.

So, speculation about a new dance partner for 2020 is not just expected it is required. Pence was probably never the guy, but someone advised the candidate that he needed him to get some segment of the vote, so he tried it. Time to move on. But to who?
Someone has suggested Nikki Haley.
…outside advisers have been pushing Nikki Haley to replace Pence. One veteran of Trump’s 2016 campaign who’s still advising Trump told me the president hasn’t been focused enough on 2020. “What he needs to do is consider his team for 2020 and make sure it’s in place,” the adviser said. “He has to have people on his team that are loyal to his agenda.”
Haley is popular with his base. A woman who appears to have inserted the Trump agenda as effectively as anyone in a place that wants nothing to do with it. And she would be a blast to watch on the campaign trail.
I think we will see a new VP. I think Haley is a great choice – I have not considered what the best choice might be – but does she want the job?
