“I am running for the position of Chair (Belknap County Republican Committee)

Dear Fellow Republicans:

On Wednesday, December 12, the Belknap County Republican Committee will be meeting at the Laconia VFW Post, 143 Court Street, Laconia.  The principal purpose of the meeting will be to elect 19 Republican State Committee Members from Belknap County. Although any Republican can make nominations, only “Delegates” can vote at that time.

I ask for your support and vote to elect me as one of the Committee Members.

Also, on January 9, the  Belknap County GOP will be electing its officers, and I am running for the position of Chair.

As you probably know, I did not run for re-election to the NH House this last election because I thought I would be moving permanently back to Florida at the insistence of my wife.  After much discussion, a decision was made that she will be moving back to Florida (she left this past Monday), I will be staying in Gilford (selling my large home and buying a smaller one in Gilford- I hope!!), and we will be getting divorced in January, by mutual agreement.

I am retired and essentially unemployed.  Thus, for the next 2 years, until I can again run for the House, I will have a lot more time on my hands, and am ready, willing and able to devote significant time to resuscitating the Belknap County GOP, as well as the NHGOP.

As you know, we suffered significant losses in the last elections, losing our nominal majorities in the State House & Senate.  I say “nominal” because even when we had the majority numbers, many people who ran and were elected with an “R” by their names voted with the Democrats and against policy positions in the NHGOP Platform with no apparent consequences.

I support the NH GOP Platform, although there are some changes I believe could be made that would strengthen our party and enhance our ability to win elections in the future.  In my past 2 years of service in the House, I was honored to receive high “grades” from the NH Liberty Alliance and the House Republican Alliance, among other groups studying our voting records.

I humbly and respectfully ask for your support and votes on December 12th and January 9th.

Thank you for your consideration.
