Meadowstone Farm Apologizes (For Violating NH Election Law)

Earlier this week we reported, with images, a blatant violation of New Hampshire election law. Meadowstone Farm posted pictures on Instagram (which they quickly removed) depicting cut up campaign signs.

The proprietor has apologized formally on their business website.

I would first like to apologize to the Northern Grafton County Republicans, especially those whose signs and names I posted on our Instagram page.  I have personally spoken and apologized to David Starr, Dennis Wagner and Linda Lauer and have left messages or emails with others, including Doug Dutile and Joe Kenney.

I would also like to apologize to others in New Hampshire and the United States who feel affronted by my actions.  It was never my intent to turn what I though[t] was a reuse of resources into a political statement, and I am sorry for the emotions and anger felt by some because of my mistakes.

It’s a great apology, and you should read it. The Farm has also made monetary reparations.

We have offered to replace the cost of the signs, but Mr. Wagner suggested a donation instead to the Bethlehem Fire Department to which we wholeheartedly agreed.  We have since donated $300 to the Bethlehem Fire Department and $200 to the N. Grafton County Republicans.

What’s it Mean?

I think these are all the right things to do. And while I suspect that someone at some point needs to get prosecuted for taking signs, I’m not convinced this is that case. Not that there ever has been a case prosecuted, that I can recall.

Even Elliot Lasky, who was photographed and admitted to stealing the signs walked without anything more than the embarrassment of getting caught.

I don’t think Meadowstone Farm is in danger, but then, that’s not up to me.
