The left works hard on their corporate speech, corporations aren’t people, campaign finance reform song and dance narratives. But here’s a quick and easy way to explain to friends and family why it’s all just a bunch of left-wing hooey.
Are corporations – which are just a bunch of people working collectively toward a shared interest- subject to taxes and regulations? Yes?
So, who’s next?
If I go along with the idea that the government can and should regulate the cost or the amount of speech exercised by one group that pays taxes and has to follow government regulations why would I believe that the ‘Government’ will stop there?
Who is next?
The Bill of Rights exists to protect the rights of people, including groups of people who agree to incorporate.
But you would deny an entity subject to government force the full breadth of their first amendment right to question or alter that use of force.
No one with a wit of sense could believe that once satisfied with that victory that they would not turn and look for someone else or some other way to limit or silence speech, specifically speech with which they disagree.
And there is no shortage of examples of that, from the left.
