A lot is going on behind the scenes as we are ramping up in our goal to serve the Conservative and Conservatarian base better than we have in the past. We are adding new writers and we are enhancing our ability to cover more events that matter to you folks – that’s what the above is all about (and there will be more announcements about that in a while). I’ll be announcing the first GraniteGrok meetup next week – it will be held in either Concord or Manchester.
Sidenote: while I am familiar with some venues in both, I am open to suggestions!
So, what is that thing in that image? It’s a Padcaster…
It’s a platform that is multipurpose in nature. Our intrepid Grokster Mike has been going to the events that the rest of us couldn’t and has been either recording or livestreaming those events with his iPad. By leaning it up on something.
So to get to the next level (and on things that the MSM would never bother to do), GraniteGrok purchased this unit that will give him a much better platform for stability purposes. It also, as you can see, has its own “micro shotgun” mic for better audio quality and this engineer now has a couple of different lenses that can be brought to the fore for a better video experience for all you readers. It also has the ability to be an “interview” station as a regular mic can be used instead of the shotgun. If warranted, we can also put a camera LED lightbox on it – and a smartphone teleprompter as well. Be very helpful for “Vlogging” (video blogging for 2-3 minute vignettes and rants).
We’re still testing it but as you can see, it performed well when Mike had Steve Negron to his house for a CD-2 “Meet and Greet”:
More details about more behind the scenes in a while.
