Who knew, 33 years after the first time, that TMEW and I would be parents again – it is now official!
Please note that the original is much better looking, out for framing, and I’ve “touched it up” word-wise as well (hey, can you tell?). Not only granting and finishing this journey at the FINAL (Woo-hoo!) hearing a couple of weeks ago, “The Judge” did another nice thing (almost as nice and as important as the “so ordered” above), he lifted the gag order that he had placed on this lowly blogger once he knew who I was and how I was connected to GraniteGrok.
That, however, will be another Part because I think how he found out was rather amusing.
No, not from his reaction but from the reaction of the DCYF Social Worker AND the DCYF lawyer at that first hearing. Fun time, fun time, but that’s when he slapped the order on me (Family Court and all) and made sure that I knew the penalty for it. Yes, sadly, this is part and parcel of being the collateral of the opioid epidemic here in NH, but more on that later.
It has been a long, long, often frustrating 2.5 years dealing with the fate of a wee baby who was in great need at the time of his birth. While I have mentioned “The Grandson” from time to time here on the ‘Grok, y’all didn’t know much of how he came to be. Yeah, I know – the normal way but as we all know, there is “normal” and then “not so normal”; in this case for us, more the latter than the former.
That all said, it’s now official – The Grandson is now both our Grandson and, legally, our third son, for better or for worse – heh!). Funny how it worked out this way – when we first got married, I wanted zero children and she wanted three. We compromised at two – the Eldest and the Youngest. TMEW just alternates between just gently smiling at me to beaming wide enough to make her cheeks hurt. Such is, at times, the state of compromise in marriage; she has her three. Yeah, compromise (heh!).
The Grandson certainly turned our world upside down, but we love it! It IS different this time around if you are wondering, but that will be yet another Part to come.
