Where NH Senate Democrat Minority Leader Jeff Woodburn beclowns himself on guns

by

Gun_RightsKimberly’s post on Portsmouth Police Commissioner Joe Plaia reminded me of this at the Union Leader concerning the NH Senate upholding Gov Maggie “The Red” Hassan’s veto of NH Constitutional Carry:

Democratic Senate Minority Leader Jeff Woodburn said the legislation is a solution in search of a problem that doesn’t exist, and that New Hampshire police chiefs do not deny permits without a good reason.  “There have seldom been unreasonable denials of a (concealed carry) permit,” he said. “And when it does happen, it is brought to public light and dealt with.”

He doesn’t get out much, does he? Or, like a Progressive, thinks more highly than he ought of our “expert and non-partisan bureaucrats” which, if anything these last eight years, we have found to be non-expert and highly partisan. We’ve seen cases of pure malfeasance – go unpunished or swept under the rug.  And in the blather of Woodburn, even if the police chiefs do badly, he blithely dismisses the impact and gives the impression of “no blood, no foul; it will self-correct or be of little consequence.  “Not to worry about”!

It is clear that he certainly didn’t bother to do his due diligence before opening his yap. If he had, he would have found the story of a police chief doing EXACTLY what he says doesn’t happen (and I bet he doesn’t think voter fraud doesn’t happen either, bless his heart) to ‘Grok friend Michelle Lavell who had to spend thousands of dollars PROVING her innocence against a police chief who decided to deny her permit renewal because she refused to give any additional information to the chief beyond what the law required (emphasis mine):

During the presser, Chairman Michelle Levell spoke about her own personal story of abuse by her police chief who decided to change the rules of the pistol/revolver application. Levell was denied her renewal because the police department illegally change the requirements.

She had to go to court to resolve the issue. Levell speaks about how it took over 112 days for her to get her day in court, leaving her defenseless in public. Immediately after testimony during the case, the judge demanded she be given her pistol license. That same day the police chief changed the rules on the web page.

Levell also spoke about other women who are having to deal with similar issues “no other form shall be used by officials of cities or towns” in the towns of Litchfield and Hudson. Seabrook Police Department is blatantly breaking the law and abusing its citizens with further requirements that they are not, by law, allowed to add. Not everyone can afford an attorney, days off from work or even daycare for their children in order to fight against illegal rules being put into place by police departments across the state.

And this as well:

Astonishingly, I found that according to state statute, my only recourse was legal action through the district court and I hired attorney Evan Nappen to represent me. I was not innocent until proven guilty. NH’s process forces law-abiding citizens to take time off work and spend significant money to file with the court. Hiring an attorney costs even more and because not all aggrieved people have the resources to pursue a legal remedy, in addition to discriminating against ethnic minorities, the law also favors the well to do.

And Woodburn (and Hassan) are perfectly fine with that situation – if you cannot afford a lawyer, the State of NH will keep you from exercising your right to self-defense under the Second Amendment. He’s perfectly fine, sitting on his hands, knowing you’re screwed by The State

Yet, he and Maggie “The Red” Hassan are PERFECTLY fine with forcing taxpayers forking over their tax monies to famed baby killers, Planned Parenthood.  After all, they say, low income mothers looking to kill their babies can’t be deterred from exercising their “written in invisible ink” Constitutional right simply because they don’t have the money to do it; we ALL have to pay for it (see here for some more)!  But perfectly fine for, you know, an actual Right to be denied.

If it weren’t for double standards, they’d have none at all, right?
