I’m promoting this comment from frequent commenter Radical Moderate on Steve’s post on Hillary doing another “Othering” of people she doesn’t like (basket, now a bucket). Emphasis mine:
I pose the following question to normal blue collar democrat acquaintances of mine that are going to vote for Hillary; What party do think will be running against Hillary if she wins in 2016? They usually respond with “Republican”. I then tell them; No, the Republican Party will be dead after the Trump candidacy, the wounds in the Republican Party will never be healed. The majority Conservative Republican base now knows that the Establishment Republicans have been shafting them for years. The Republican Party will never be able to come back after what the Conservative base has witnessed. So who do you think will run against Hillary in four or eight years? At that point they begin looking confused.
Then they always look stunned when I say the following; The Overton window will have moved to the Left which means the next election will be Hillary and your Democrat Party against a pure Communist party candidate which means they will be going for asset and property seizure and total redistribution of wealth. Hillary and today’s Democrat party will become the New Right. It only makes sense.
At that point they usually look like they may be about to puke.
