OK, I can see street winos hitting that top group and those that have to drink for a living (e.g, brewmasters, liquor distillers / barrel tappers, and the like – those in the industry). But seriously – 10 drinks a day? As I have said before, I am the son of an Irish drunk – I am quite sure he’d fit in well in either the top decile or in between it and the next one.
On the other hand, I’d be in the bottom decile (and TMEW). He made his choice (and no, being a drunk is not a disease – it is a choice (one he made over and over again) as I have made mine. While there does seem to be a genetic disposition that is passed down, there is no “pathogen” that one can catch to become a drunk. (H/T: Powerline)
