SHOT:

US Constitution, Article II, Section 2:

The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY):

“The American people; should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President,”

This is about to get real interesting real quick – unless it isn’t real quick.  The Senate makes its own rules and McConnell is in charge of those rules – like Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) before him who launched the “nuclear option” to get HIS own way, McConnell will probably do the same.  McConnell, and McConnell alone is responsible for scheduling anything to be discussed or voted upon in the US Senate – he can merely say “We have more important things to take up” and let this slide.

Or, is at least indicating he’ll do so.  The question to be answered will be “will the Senate Republicans cave and give Obama a sweet smooch as he heads out the door?  Will they give him one last “gift” given how politically prostrate they’ve been in the past”?

“The Political is the personal, the Personal is the political” – that is the mantra of the Progressive (incremental Socialists).  Translation: EVERYTHING and EVERYONE is part of our political realm – we will politicize it ALL.  And they have done exactly that.  And that politicization is not in favor of traditional American values nor in support of the US Constitution (re: how often is Obama using his “pen and a phone” via Executive Orders instead of working with Congress to pass actual legislation?).

The Hyper-partisanship started with the Democrats in this modern era – and they have made quite the advantage work for their agenda when the numbers have been right and as they have controlled the Executive Branch.  But you wait – the caterwauling of cats in heat will be no match for how the Dems will sputter and spew as they are hoisted on their own petards as the Rs may just act similarly.

It’s what Progressives do.
