This NBC/Wall Street Journal national poll has Donald Trump losing his lead, held almost right from his getting into the race, to Ted Cruz. No, this is not just South Carolina or Nevada – this is nationwide:
Stunner? Dunno. Reliable? Should be, considering who has done it. An inflection point? Maybe. A point is just a point – for a trend we need a number of points to confirm it. And let’s be fair – Trump has been outstripping the field for months by 10-30 points so I’m not sure what to think of this. But this is news in the political sphere, so here we go.
What isn’t factored into this is today’s endorsement by SC Gov. Nikki Haley of Marco Rubio – and shutting Jeb Bush out. Bad results out of Iowa and NH, not doing all that hot in SC, and this may mean that Jeb and his campaign had better start looking hard in the mirror about your realistic chances. Thus far, your ROI is abysmal and donors are going to reward a 6th place runner.
Also, a new USA Today/Suffolk University poll just out shows Hillary losing to all of the Republicans:
Cruz 45 Clinton 44
Trump 45 Clinton 43
Rubio 48 Clinton 42
Kasich 49 Clinton 38
Heh – where’s Jeb! ?
