And then there are some that are already dust already – and this one won’t admit it.

Gilmore2That would be Jim Gilmore – military vet and former Governor of Virginia. Another nice guy to boot but he just hasn’t caught on.  But in fact, if he was a writer, he’d be in the vanity (re: self-publishing) business for all of the excitement he’s generated.  Yes, he’s quite intelligent and his ideas and stances are pretty much fine – but yet another one of the “older time” pols trying a reboot and not taking the hint.

And it shows. I just looked at his tweet (via The Blaze) and my head swiveled off angle like my dogs do when really confused:

Now, combine that with this…

…and you can see why.  He’s crowing about being still in the field – but hey, if I had the time and money, I could claim the same thing, too.  I understand the self-promotion as it is absolutely necessary in this biz but at some point, you have to let the reality in.  I actually believed that he would be one of the next ones to go and to have gone well before either Rand Paul or Rick Santorum.

But really – celebrating that he’s still in the field but with ONLY 12 TOTAL VOTES in the whole of Iowa??  This is “success”?  Frankly, I can’t see it – for there is nothing there to see.

Let’s go back to the McDonald’s example (after all, it is a great one even if it doesn’t totally fit exactly).  Mickey D’s wasn’t listening to their “voters”and their financials showed it.  Gilmore (and the others in the field that aren’t catching on either) aren’t listening as they should.
