Yes, we were about to start our GrokTALK! show yesterday when we had the lights flicker twice and then all the lights on our equipment went dark. Mike put up this quick “tongue in cheek” post but the the Union Leader had the real reason:
Hawk takes out power to 13,000
CONCORD — A hawk that landed on a transmission line caused a power outage Saturday morning, leaving about 13,000 Unitil customers without electricity. Alec O’Meara, spokesman for the electric company, said the outage lasted from 8:20 to 9:40 a.m., when crews were able to reroute the power supply. Repairs to the damaged line were expected to be finished Saturday, he said.
The majority of affected customers live in Concord, but the outage also affected households in Boscawen, Bow and Canterbury, O’Meara said.
The hawk did not survive.
I also dryly note that Alec was the Editor of the Gilford Steamer when Doug and I first started both ‘Groks – I credit him for the line “Got Grokked” he’d use from time to time. Was never sure whether it was an pointy stick at someone that we went after, or an accolade that that person (heh!).
