In response to the execution-style murder of  Harris County Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth, who was shot multiple times at a gas station in Cypress, Texas, Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. strongly criticized what he called the “black lies matter” movement and stressed that President Barack Obama himself had “started this war on police.”

Via Big Government, Ted Cruz echoed the sentiment of the Sheriff.  He talked about it last night at Grokster Mike’s home – video to soon be up.

Cops across this country are feeling the assault. They’re feeling the assault from the President, from the top on down as we see, whether it’s in Ferguson or Baltimore, the response of senior officials of the President, of the Attorney General, is to vilify law enforcement. That is fundamentally wrong, and it is endangering the safety and security of us all.

I’m proud to stand with law enforcement, to stand with the police and fire fighters and first responders. They are American heroes. And they need a President who doesn’t attack and vilify them and who doesn’t seek to tear us apart along racial lines to inflame racial divisions. Instead we need a President who works to bring us together and unify us behind shared American values.

And given the genesis that gave birth to this movement, Ferguson and the words of Obama and the actions of Eric Holder’s Dept. of Justice, there is no doubt that their actions and rhetoric gave the Black Live Matter movement its cover and its encouragement.  And what have we seen thus far? Police killings are way up this year.  Certainly the Houston sheriff’s deputy that was just assassinated executioner style is not just a symptom of this movement – it seems to be the aim.  After all:
