Republican unilaterally goes all in on Medicaid Expansion, surprised by result

by

Yes, a side effect of the Stupid Party when they try to out Democrat the Democrats and grow Government using other peoples’ money – and may run out in 1 year.  Why am I not surprised that Ohio Governor John Kasich (and rumored Prez Wannabee):

Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s Obamacare expansion blew past projections in its first year, putting 471,452 Ohioans on Medicaid and costing taxpayers $2.1 billion.

Because enrollment has so dramatically exceeded Kasich administration estimates—the governor expected 366,00 to enroll by July 2015—the Obamacare money appropriated to pay for program benefits will be exhausted months early.  If recent enrollment and cost trends persist, Kasich’s Obamacare expansion will be more than $1 billion over budget by the time Ohio’s 2015 fiscal year ends on June 30. Actual Obamacare expansion claim expenditures reported by the Ohio Department of Medicaid are shown in the chart below.

NH is having the same problem:

underestimated sign up projections eating into the HHS budget plus “unexpectedly” higher start up costs in the millions.  Brought to you by the NH State Senate Republicans of last cycle.

Ya think??  Giving people “free stuff” is a tactic of the Dems – start the program and yell bloody murder when that “crack” money runs out  cry out “CRISIS!!!!”.  That’s what they do – but they gain more  voters for their base.  Republicans, on the other hand, just look dumb.  Oh, they’ll try to rationalize it in many ways but to those of us paying attention, the smoke they put up is trivial to see through.  Problem is, folks like Kasich (and here in NH, Morse, Bradley, Forrester, et al) actually believe what they’re saying.

Free Stuff – what, the Republicans keep thinking that people WON’T come a’runnin’?  Sorry, those days are past.  It used to be that there was dishonor in taking and being on the public dole – people had pride in being self-reliant and self-independent.  Being on the dole was a sign of failure.  Now, thanks to Progressives that no one should be “stigmatized” for anything (unless of course, one is a Conservative or TEA Party kind of guy) and especially for not taking government money.  It is GOOD to want other peoples’ stuff, right?

Don’t these Republicans ever realize that the rest of us start to think “Baghdad Bob” when they reinforce that “GOOD to” climate?
