…then maybe, just MAYBE, you shoulda listened to that little angel on your shoulder going “er, wanna rethink that decision”?
As the nation’s moviegoers ready for the Valentines Day release of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” sensation, actress Dakota Johnson Friday told a national TV audience that it’s so racy that she won’t let her parents watch. In an early preview of the sex-filled film for a “Today” show audience, the daughter of actor Don Johnson and actress Melanie Griffith nervously said, “I don’t want my parents to see it.” Asked who could, Johnson said, “maybe my friends, maybe my sisters.”
The cognitive dissonance hurts…
so it’s absolutely OK for complete strangers to see you in such “position” that ordinarily would cause you to blush? Or only blush if your friends and close relatives see you? I think it points out a real lesson – if you would have to look your parents in the eye as they are watching you simulating sex, just perhaps this might be a sub-optimal decision? If you think your parents would be embarrassed, or that you are embarrassed to think of how Dad would see you on the big screen, that isn’t a signal that a pass should be taken? Or is the lure of fame and money always trump that of modesty and good taste? That perhaps it’s that little bit left of Dignity already cringing? Or do those latter two things matter anymore in Hollywood? Or culture, for that matter? If nothing is forbidden, if nothing has a social stigma associated with it, then one of the Big Bricks that make up the Wall of Society has been withdrawn – how many more can be tolerated before “cultural physics” arrives and it all falls down?
Senator Daniel Moynihan was right but given the libertine cultural mores that are supposed to be the “new normal” thanks to Progressives, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Or perhaps I should be, given the prudish iron glove from the Progressive DOJ basically pre-judging men as rapists on campus via new Title IX regs.
Sorry – that was a bit of stupidity on my part – has nothing to do with sex and instead, transforming the whole idea of due process, a jury of one’s peers, and such from the judiciary (which such alleged criminal acts should be heard) to those Politically Correct administrators in the Ivory Tower.
