Indeed! And one more thing that Obama will do via Executive Order (via the Federal Sustainable Communities Initiative by the Federal Depts of HUD / EPA / DOT) is take over all local zoning. We’ve been sounding this alarm for years now, as the Feds have been funneling $$$$ into NH via the nine Regional Planning Commissions that are not accountable to ANY one and they have been setting the stage for this. Once we in the grassroots discovered this, those folks (like the good Progressives they are) decided to jump on the bandwagon and have demonized the grassroots as “tin hat extremists” (a la “nobodys coming to take your guns). So this came as no surprise as Obama really doesn’t care who controls the House or the Senate – Congress has already given him enough power to do what he wants in “fundamentally transforming” America – and he knows they don’t have the cojones to stop him (reformatted, emphasis mine):

Housing
After a delay, the administration’s final “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” regulation is now expected to be announced in December. Originally scheduled for finalization in October, the new Housing and Urban Development Department rules will force all cities and suburbs to accept subsidized housing in the name of racial diversity, superceding all local zoning ordinances. The Orwellian-sounding regulation would force some 1,200 municipalities to redraw zoning maps to racially diversify suburban neighborhoods.
Under the scheme, HUD plans to map every US neighborhood by race and publish “geospatial data” pinpointing racial imbalances. Areas deemed overly segregated will be forced to change their zoning laws to allow construction of subsidized and other affordable housing to bring more low-income minorities into “white suburbs.” HUD’s maps will be used to select affordable housing sites.
So, if you thought that the Democrats are all about local control, think again, for nothing says “local control” like some bureaucrat crew from DC, embued with the Obama redistributionist outlook on life, to say “You vill do dis!”. Just ask Rob Astorinio, County Commissioner of Westchester County in NY. There, he found out the true meaning of local control and agreements with the Federal Government – turned out to be more like Gangsta Government as contracts and paper agreement meant nothing at all. Sorta like loan sharks, this Obama administration, except they play with people along with dollars. And even if you follow the contract, they still demand “extra-contractual” items well above and beyond the original agreement (go watch the video at the link).
It is all about following the Fabian Socialist model from Britain – a wee bit at a time so as not to frighten the masses as to what is about to happen. Unfortunately, I think Obama and his minions are realizing that the jig is up and are taking their last shots. Steroid time, me hearties homies comrades!
As if Obamacare wasn’t enough redistribution for us (so, WHAT again is the GOP agenda for doing this again…..<crickets>)
It’s part of the administration’s ambitious agenda to eliminate “racial segregation,” ZIP code by ZIP code, block by block, through the systematic dismantling of allegedly “exclusionary” building ordinances. In effect, federal bureaucrats will have the power to rezone your neighborhood.
Of course, Obama and Democrats are loath to inject this decidedly radical issue into the elections, so they’ll keep it out of the headlines until after voters go to the polls.
While temporarily punting away politically fraught issues may be smart politics, it’s cowardly leadership.
Why this tactic? They blame the richer white for abandoning the cities / urban areas for the suburbs and taking their tax monies with them. Got that? Taking the cities’ monies with them – can’t be much clearer or plainer than that. Along with Warrenism (and now Hillary / Shaheenism) of “You didn’t build that!” comes “It’s not yours – YOU STOLE IT AWAY FROM THE FOLKS THAT DESERVE IT MORE!“. The reason why urban areas are doing so poorly is that folks ran away from crime, bad schools, high cost of living, noisy and smelly places Democrat control governments minorities. Thus, these “regional” governance entities must be in place – another level of unelected and unaccountable government that can subvert the will of the voting public – social justice at its finest!
And you will be made to care – for “social justice” is nothing more than a different phrase for “Progressive / Socialists taking money from evil people to give it to their constituencies” and make themselves feel good about themselves and punish others.
Punish others – is not the entire purpose of Socialism?
