Target shooting, hunting, self-defense, military – it made no difference then and makes no difference now. It is not the technology but the recognition of human nature is that some always wish to dominate others (“including their own government“); firearms are a way of voting no. People are the “scary parts” – not lumps of metal, plastic, wood, or chemicals. It is people that are tyrannical (be it writ small in a single person or writ large as in Government) in nature, not inanimate objects.
It is rather sad that Liberals can’t tell the difference (or wish to).
