Imagine my surprise when I went to put Mieka outside this morning:
Yeah, snow. Middle of April. Temperature was 17 degrees when I got up and when I went to pick up the Youngest after work, the temp by the car’s thermometer was 30. Normal temps this time of year are supposed to be in the upper 50s.
It is what it is but I still remember my high school days when our tennis matches were cancelled due to snow on the courts and that was, ahem, in the early 70s. I also remember that in the mid to late 70s, the headlines were screaming “A New Ice Age Is Coming” with the unsaid nuance of B-grade movie screenwriters everywhere “We’re all gonna die!” (with the MSM sidelines being “Women, children, and minorities hurt the worst”.
Look, one late dusting doesn’t prove / disprove anything other than it was a light dusting and that the low temps may have hurt some newly germinated outside plants and made my pathway a bit slicker than I would have wanted. Temps will be in the mid teens tonite, so the wood stove will get a reboot once the Youngest hauls in some wood for me to light up.
