The alternative to just saying no to either whore in either dress (to saying no to either the Democrat or Republican ‘plan’ for expanding Medicaid) is to identify an actual problem, if one exists, and to come up with a local solution whose terms we control and whose destiny we alone shape. I guarantee you that this will take more work, but in the long run it will not only cost less, it is more likley to create a climate that gets more people off Medicaid than on it.
Being brave would entail us looking for ways to help keep people off Medicaid, not embracing its expansion because ObamaCare put some meat on a hook.
Caring about people would require us to identify those truly in need and then managing a local solution to ensure it does not waste money or trap people in an entitlement culture.
Being brave is saying “you know what? No, we got this.”
The special session vote is today. I’d like to be wrong, but I think the majority of legislators in New Hampshire are cowards, and not just becasue most of them are Democrats.
