In a backhanded slice against the TEA Party, MINORITY leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell said:
…The victory of a more electable Republican, is significant, Mr. McConnell says. To govern, parties must win. To win, parties must “run candidates that don’t scare the general public, [and] convey the impression that we could actually be responsible for governing, you can trust us—we’re adults here, we’re grown-ups.”
Indeed, must win – and the Establishment Republicans HAVE run “grown-ups” lately, haven’t they:
- Jerry Ford
- Bob Dole
- John McCain,
- Mitt Romney
Every one of them decent men, all moderate Republicans…
…whose combined Charisma levels couldn’t light a self-relighting birthday candle. McConnell keeps avoiding the obvious – the “grown-ups” “that don’t scare the general public” also have to keep the electorate awake.
He also wants to skirt the other obvious problem – that if the Republican Party had been governing correctly according to its Principles, there never would have been a TEA Party in the first place.
