Note: Democrats / Progressives / Socialists / Statist / Big Government folks were all agog a while ago: “WHAT?? We’re gonna cut 2.5% of the Federal budget?? Destruction to us all!” they cried (while muttering “Damnation on those that caused this – don’t they know that The majority of folks are still fine after that – so much for the sequestration. Now, 17% of the Federal Government is down – and the only folks that are being harmed are those being used as pawns by President Obama (e.g., WW II Vets and memorials) as he said ” to keep the political heat” on the Republicans.
What an admission – the FIRST President willing to hurt ordinary Americans simply to further his political agenda.
Nature abhors a vacuum, and so does politics. True for economics. If the Government shuts down
We used to be perfectly fine without a huge Government, before the time of the First Progressive President, Woodrow Wilson (who hated the Constitution almost as much as Obama does). We can be fine again (all screams of Statists everywhere).
If there is a job with true economic value, the private sector will fill the void left by empty Government jobs. Not only that, the expansive American Civil Society that De Toqueville marveled at when he toured America, will flourish again as the jackboot of Government must retreat. What a concept – the choice to voluntarily decide how to help our fellow citizens will return once again (as opposed to forced cooperation by government fiat and functionaries). Go ahead, return it to its Constitutional stricture – after some (short, I bet) time of adaptation, we’ll ALL be fine. Except for a lot of former professional politicians (on both sides)….
