238 years ago tonight at midnight, Paul Revere mounted a horse and took off to Lexington to warn Sam Adams and John Hancock that they were about to be arrested by British troops. At dawn the next morning (19 April) the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War began within the towns of Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, present-day Arlington and Cambridge.238 years later, earlier this evening, I attended a meeting of the Merrimack County Republican Committee to which I am a delegate. Not a word was spoken in honor, not a moment of silence taken in recognition. So I thought I’d say a couple here…thank you, may your fight for freedom and liberty never be forgotten. May your beliefs never be marginalized. May those of us who are your beneficiaries remember what it cost.
