From The Edge Of Sequestration…We’re Walking, And We’re Walking, And We’re Stopping. [Updated]

In an effort to make sequestaria appear like a real crisis neither the White House nor the Vice Presidents residence will be conducting tours in the foreseeable future… because the evil Republicans voted for Obama’s bill and wouldn’t cave like the Democrats had planned.

In response to this  Rep Louie Ghomert, Texas, has proposed an amendment to HR 933 that would force the President to join us in this mandatory time of austerity.    Those golf trips waste an awful lot of taxpayer resources for security and such, so until Mr. Obama can find a few bucks for the Tour guides, no more golf.

hr933 - No more golf until the White house tours resume

Obama wouldn’t follow it if it were to pass but it does make a relevant point. Other suggestions included sending the WH chefs packing, and even cutting out the quarterly White House/OFA meetings for $500K donors.

Update – As it turns out, the Tour guides appear to be volunteers, so no pay cuts for the unpaid.  The White House now claims that it is stopping tours because it has to reassign Secret Service agents who would have been posted to keep an eye on the tourists.

Anyone want to bet that zero Secret service agents are impacted by the sequester? Does any of this matter considering how much the Obama’s spend on extra-presidential activities like golf, trips, parties, (the cost of constant campaigning), and so on?
