Today’s historic vote on CACR-12: A message for wavering Republicans….

by

I haa an animated discussion early today with several members of the State House of Representatives. They will be called upon to vote for or against the awful CACR-12 proposed state constitutional amendment. CACR-12 will essentially do the bidding of the five policy activists in black robes on the state supreme court. But they are NOT superior to the state legislature. So on CACR-12…DON’T DO IT, REPUBLICANS! As I said this morning, here’s why:

“Today’s New Hampshire politics are not in any wise the politics of 2007, or the politics of any time in the past half century…or century, for that matter. It doesn’t take a Weatherman to see which way the wind is blowing. The GOP supermajority of 2010 is only the first gust of a gathering anti-statist storm. In the future there will be libertarians and other anti-statist activists on both sides of the aisle fighting over issues far more liberty-oriented than what we are looking at today. As Rep. Manuse says, now is not the time to give up and surrender by installing an automatic government-growth escalator into our state constitution…at the very moment momentum is historically shifting in our direction.

Some of you know what it was like back in the 1990’s, when Democrats ran as fake-Republicans, and controlled the State House. See how far we have come! But guess what: You ain’t seen nothing yet!”
